Speaking about “Impact Finance for a Sustainable Blue Economy” at Bali Ocean Days

I’m looking forward to speaking during the “Impact Finance for a Sustainable Blue Economy” session at Bali Ocean Days next week!

Financial institutions are critical in rebuilding ocean prosperity, restoring biodiversity and regenerating ocean health. My presentation will look at recent development and opportunities in aligning investment, underwriting and lending activities with building a sustainable blue economy, including the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI)’s Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Principles, UN Sustainable Development Goal 14, the Paris Agreement and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It will explore the role of practical guidance and tools to help banks, insurers and investors bring a sustainable blue lens to financial decision-making on a sector-by-sector basis. How can financial institutions avoid and mitigate environmental and social risks and impacts, set targets and harness opportunities when providing capital to companies or projects within the blue economy?

I’m looking forward to joining the stage with distinguished speakers such as David Aromokeye (The World Bank Group), Eddi Danusaputro (BNI Ventures), Okki Soebagio (Bali Investment Club), Minna Epps (IUCN Centre for Conservation Action), and Jimmi Tampubolon (Asian Development Bank).

Organised by Sky Blue Sea Foundation as well as Pascal Philippe and Darmawan & Associates, Bali Ocean Days is a meeting of public offices, private institutions and communities with a view to developing new synergies between these organisations and create opportunities for cross-team collaboration on long-term projects.

Get in touch if you are planning to be there or if you know someone I should connect with while there!
