Unlocking Blue Finance in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines

I’m excited to participate in and present at the first Interactive Dialogue on “Unlocking Blue Finance in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines” organized by Ocean Centres – a global initiative hosted by the United Nations Global Compact and supported by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation, active in Brazil, Ghana, Kenya, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

I will share global perspectives on Blue Finance, highlighting key international mechanisms, financial instruments, trends, and opportunities driving investment in the blue economy across regions. This online session is a participatory global-to-local conversation on unlocking Blue Finance – connecting international mechanisms with regional priorities to accelerate a Safe and Sustainable Ocean Economy (S-SOE).

A strong and innovative S-SOE is critical for the transition toward safe and blue-green economies: decarbonized shipping, green port infrastructure, offshore renewables, and sustainable seafood systems are rapidly becoming central to climate-aligned investment portfolios. Financial institutions, ocean industries, governments, and development finance institutions all play a pivotal role in managing risks and seizing opportunities in this transition.

In addition to myself, global insights will be brought by:

  • Tim Slingsby Lloyd’s Register Foundation
  • Claire Jolly OECD

Local perspectives will be shared by:

  • Namita Vikas auctusESG (India)
  • M. Shaifur Rahman Mazumdar Chittagong Stock Exchange (Bangladesh)
  • Dr. Derry Wanta Indonesia Blue Economy Center (IBEC) (Indonesia)
  • Jo Ann Eala Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) (Philippines)
