Economist Impact’s World Ocean Summit started today! On Day 1 I moderated a plenary panel discussion on connecting the silos for a healthy ocean. We explored the big picture for ocean regeneration, and how collaboration between government, industry, investors, scientists and NGOs can bring it about. The panel shared expertise, ambition and new strategies.
I was joined by Rick Spinrad, under-secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere, and administrator at NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration); Karen Sack, executive director of the Ocean Risk and Resilience Action Alliance; and Tiago Pitta e Cunha, chief executive of the Oceano Azul Foundation.
