What a year it’s been! Some of my highlights in 2024 included…

🌊…joining the Board of the Marine Conservation Society, the UK’s leading marine charity by and for ocean lovers;

🇺🇳…joining the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) as Senior Strategic Expert in Blue Economy and presenting the discussion paper I wrote, Blueprint for Sustainable Development: The Blue Industry Contribution to the Blue Economy Agenda, at the Expert Group Meeting in Vienna;

🗣️…having my TEDx talk on “How a just & regenerative mindset can help us navigate the polycrisis” published.

💙…speaking about the ocean as a climate solution at both “The Ocean at COP29: Navigating Climate Action“, a panel discussion hosted by Acre and Ocean Generation, and during London Climate Action Week as part of the “Ocean-Climate Nexus event“;

🇵🇹…moderating 6 sessions at Economist Impacts World Ocean Summit in Lisbon, including the blue foods track and a session on How to invest better in the blue economy;

🌍…taking part in the Blue Earth Forum and speaking about the intersection of marine conservation and industrial growth, with a focus on blue finance; and

🐟…successfully completing Basecamp, a 6-month journey into the foundations of systems change practice, at the School of System Change and hosting a fieldwork challenge with a multi-disciplinary team on diagnosing the aquaculture system.

So much has happened, and I’m grateful for all the amazing experiences and connections this year. Building a sustainable blue economy was a central theme of my 2024 and will remain at the heart of my 2025.
