I’m delighted to join the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) as a Sustainable Blue Economy consultant!
Following my time at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), where I focused on Blue Industry, I’m looking forward to focusing on accelerating Blue Finance through UNEP FI’s Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Initiative (SBE FI).
🏦 UNEP FI is the UN-convened network of banks, insurers and investors accelerating sustainable development. It works with 500+ members, representing $170+ trillion, to provide guidance to advance market practice.
🌊 SBE FI is a UN-convened global community focused on the intersection between private finance and ocean health, supporting the implementation of the Sustainable Blue Economy Finance Principles. The Initiative works across the financial community to provide guidance and frameworks to ensure investment, underwriting and lending activities are aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG14)”life below water”enabling financial institutions to rebuild ocean prosperity, restore biodiversity and regenerate ocean health.
💡 I’m looking forward to working closely with my new UNEP FI colleagues, including Karla Martnez Toral and the wider Nature team headed by Jessica Smith and Romie Goedicke den Hertog. My focus will be on the impact strategy for UNEP FIs ocean workstream and fundraising for it; engaging financial institutions on risk assessment/management, disclosure and portfolio alignment with SDG14, the Paris Agreement, the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and the sustainable Blue Economy; and raising awareness, mainstreaming and capacity-building on sustainable Blue Economy finance, for example in the run-up to and at events such a the upcoming UN Ocean Conference.
💙 I’m looking forward to working with many of you to accelerate the sustainable Blue Economy through the finance community. Get in touch and lets explore collaboration opportunities!
