Food systems are at the heart of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The world is moving to act on pressing climate targets and increasingly embracing a food-systems agenda, all whilst we continue to overcome the effects of Covid-19. The results of the Food Sustainability Index (FSI), developed by Economist Impact with the support of the Barilla Foundation, highlight common lessons on how best to tackle key food-systems challenges faced by countries around the world.
Which 22 countries have dedicated food waste strategies? Which countries are setting examples on how to better integrate climate action with agricultural activities? The 2021 FSI examines the food systems of 78 countries using 95 individual metrics across three key pillars: food loss and waste, sustainable agriculture, and nutritional challenges?
To find out more, please join me on January 25th 2022 at 2pm GMT (9am EDT / 3pm CET) for a webinar on the 2021 Food Sustainability Index. During the discussion, I will share the key findings of the index, the lessons these generate for global food-sustainability efforts, and have a conversation with three expert speakers in the field:
• Marta Antonelli, Head of Research, Barilla Center for Food and Nutrition Foundation (BCFN)
• Ajay Vir Jakhar, Chairman of Bharat Krishak Samaj (Farmers’ Forum India) and former Vice Chair of Action track 2 of the UN Food Systems Summit 2021
• Rodrigo Pacheco, Founder and Executive Chef at Bocavaldivia, UN FAO Goodwill Ambassador for Latin America
We look forward to you joining us for this event.
